Piante Design

Plant ladies, rejoice! You have a new place to indulge your green thumb addiction.  Piante Design has been open on Fairbanks for about three months, but I just finally got a chance to visit them today after several roadside views while waiting at the long red light left turn onto Park Avenue.

The shop is beautiful and gave me a mini flashback to Plant the Future in Wynwood, except here I was greeted immediately and warmly and I could actually afford items in the shop (no shade, but, I mean there are a lot of leaves, so shade).

The owner, Gary, hails from Toronto and is a serious plant lover and designer with several accreditation's, and he has even studied his craft around Europe. With his roots in Toronto, Gary ventured down to the warmer climate of Florida and is now serving our community locally with the shop and event and wedding design.

If you don't meet Gary when you visit, you will most likely meet Liz, coincidentally my College Park neighbor, and the Business Manager + Designer for Piante. Liz was so sweet and talkative and answered all my plant novice questions like a pro. Any gal that prefers the untoned Chris Pratt over the ripped Chris Pratt is alright in my book.

The prices are very reasonable here, and beyond plants you'll find gift items like macrame, botanical wax satchels, candles, pins, cards, wall art, and Marimo Moss balls; a filamentous green algae that grows into large green balls with a velvety appearance.

Definitely go give this new business some love and don't let parking deter you. There is street parking behind them on Comstock Avenue, so find a spot and take a quick walk around the block. Not to mention soon you will have both plants and Little Blue Donut Co. next door to make it worthwhile.

The shop is located at 129 W Fairbanks Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789.

Hours right now are Tuesday - Saturday 10-6pm  (closed on Sunday + Monday).

All pictures were taken by me while I was shopping and supporting a local business and should not be used without permission.
