Orlando Photo Spots 7
As many of us peek our heads out of quarantine and cautiously venture out, many of our nomal ways to enjoy recreation around the city right now are modified, or in some cases even postponed. I’m personally looking for ways to get out, like nature hikes and visiting areas that are less-traveled and while remaining socially distant.
It occurred to me a new photo spots hunt could be just what we all need at the moment, as it’s something you can do with little interaction with other people.
I compiled a new list murals as some new ones have appeared around town, as well as a few I just never got around to adding to my list.
Of course, this list isn’t just street art, but anywhere I think you can make a memorable photo happen.
You’ll also find some local businesses listed near each photo spot. While not all may be fully open at this time, do your best to patron any of them in some way while you are out, or bookmark for a later date.
The East Tattoo Mural
Artist: Earl Funk
Location: Virginia and Orange on the side of the East Tattoo building.
What to know: The artist who painted this mural is actually a co-owner of this tattoo shop. He also has three other murals in this area, including one inside the parlor. This is a parking lot, so watch out for cars, and to get a glimpse of the wall when it’s not busy, your best bet it to visit when the shop is not open.

The City Beautiful Mural
Artist: Unknown, I didn’t see an artist signature
Location 220 Weber Street on the side of the JA Edwards of America building
Local Businesses nearby to support: Reyes Mezcaleria, Naked Bar Soap Co., Lineage Coffee, Lazy Moon.
What to know: There are a few obstructions, so get creative with your angles or edit in Photoshop later.

Flamingo + Hops Mural
Artist: Kristi Burke @kristipaintsorlando
Location: GB’s Bottle Shop on Virginia
What to know: Anyone familiar with this area knows parking is tricky. Don’t park to block any residential drive ways. This mural faces West so it’s lit up by the sun after noon, but will get that nice golden hour glow at dusk.

Downtown Orlando cityscape mural
Artist: Thomas Thorspecken @analogartistdigitalworld
Location: On the back of Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co.
What to know: This mural is on the back wall of Ivanhoe Park Brewing. Don’t take up their parking lot just to take a picture. You can easily park on Brookhaven and walk across the street.

R2D2 Milk District
Artist: Earl Funk
Location: Echo Base Collectibles off Robinson in the Milk District
What to know: There is no parking available to you near this shop, you'll have to find street parking nearby. If the shop is open when you go, definitely go inside, they have lots of great collectibles.

Princess of Orlando

Location: On the side of the old Dexter’s location 808 E. Washington St.

Thornton Park Mural
Artist: Unknown - Signature NM 2019
Location: Hyer and Washington, on the side of the Raw Juice Bar building.

Sodo Orange Mural
Location: SODO parking garage across from Target
Artist: Christian Stanley @cstanleycreative
What to know: Since this mural is located in a shopping center, parking is never a problem, although depending on the shot you are trying to get, you have to stand in the road, so be careful.

Florida Craft Brewing Mural
Location: 2650 Jewett Lane Sanford. This new local business will be opening in late June.

What to know: This business is not yet open and is located on a highly industrial road.

Location: Kabooki Sushi 3122 E Colonial Drive
Artist: Boy Kong

Financier Patisserie Winter Park
Location: 212 N Park Ave, Winter Park
What to know: This place is a fashion blogger paradise, so don’t be surprised if you see lots of picture taking.

Bamf! Comics and Coffee
Location: 500 Horatio Ave Maitland
What to know: This is a really cool shop for comic lovers, and would be a cute spot for unique engagement pictures for a couple who share a love of video games, comics, and pop culture. They also have a coffee bar inside!
