Orlando Photo Spots Vol.6

Orlando Photo Spots

With more color being added to our city every passing month, we continue to get to indulge in lighter moments as we capture shots at new Orlando photo spots. Photo spots don’t have to be murals, although those are some of my favorite. Sometimes its a kitschy monument or just something that grabs my eye. This new list features newer works of art and a few older spots I never got around to showcasing. Support your local artists and go explore your city and find fun, unique areas to take photographs and create memories.

Lake Mary “Mural Alley”

If you visit what some refer to as downtown Lake Mary, you’ll get a brief escape from the heavy chain-filled suburbia. Fourth Street is home to their Farmers Market but also a strip of local shops and restaurants like Sophie and Trey and Root’s Raw juice bar. Thanks in part to local business owner Kristin Koldenhoven, the artistic alley was created to help attract more people to the area and make it a destination.

Artists include: Jill Jordan (@jilljordanartist), Ronni Villanueva (@villanrme), Brooke Stefanelli (@brooke_illustrations)

Location: Off 4th Street in Lake Mary. Turn left on W Lakeview Avenue to park in the lot directly behind the alley.

The Princeton Parking Garage

Artist: Andrew Spear (spearlife)

Location: Princeton + Edgewater in College Park inside the tenant parking garage. I have no idea if you are allowed to park in their garage, but there is street parking on Princeton that is safe and easily accessible to the garage entrance.

Suffrage Movement Mural

I interviewed the ladies of WISP recently, and this mural located in Thornton Park is their first collaborative work for our city.

Artists: Sara Berlin (@sara_berlin_art), Kristi Hamby (@kristipaintsorlando), and Melissa Hurcombe (@brunchzilla)

Location: Thornton Park next to the Thornton Park laundry mat.

Lake Adair Mural

Artist: Kristi Hamby (@kristipaintsorlando)

Location: Maxwell Street in College Park

Downtown Kissimmee Art

The Osceola Arts program had an ARTisNOW project in May, and now these large scale murals can be found in downtown Kissimmeee.

Location: Broadway + Monument Ave and Broadway right before Ruby Avenue.

Artists:

The Wild Ones: Steven Teller Arts (@steventellerarts)

Owl: German Lemus (@lemusart)

Iron Horse: Christian Stanley (@cstanleycreative)

Orange World

Yes, this is quite the tourist trap, but this large citrus icon cannot be ignored. There’s a undeniably Florida mural to snap a picture in front of, or perhaps just capture the charm of the large Orange on it’s own. If you go inside it’s full of tacky but lovable Florida merchandise.

Location: 5395 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746

Gertrude’s Walk

Artist: Martha Lent Design

Location: On Gertrude Ave between Jefferson and Washington. There is street parking right along the murals.

Starbucks in Celebration

Location: 715 Bloom St, Celebration, FL 34747

Mills 50 Gang

Artist: Dolla $hort AM7

Location: Side of Will’s Pub on Mills Avenue

Old Town Ferris Wheel

Old Town is actually full of color and potential photo opportunities. My favorite is this gorgeous pastel dream in the sky.

Location: 5770 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746

Penguin Mural

Artist: Unknown

Location: 319 N. Magnolia Avenue
