Donut Central

A new doughnut shop has emerged in our city, this time outside of Orlando's core and closer to residents of Winter Park and Longwood.

You may remember Sleeping Moon Cafe, a quaint shop and hub for Full Sail students located in the strip center at Aloma and State Road 436. That spot now houses Donut Central. Much of the old space has been transformed for a full donut counter and the kitchen space to make fresh goods daily. There is also a space for their in-house coffee roaster.

They have a full coffee menu of lattes, cold brew nitro, and teas, and soon it will include drip coffee and pour overs. I was particularly pleased with the iced matcha I ordered that wasn't overly sweet, and had enough matcha in it so I wasn't just tasting milk.  Speaking of milk, they do have dairy alternatives including soy, almond, and coconut.

The doughnuts were decent, not overly sweet, and they had a decent amount of flavors available. By the time I arrived later in the afternoon there was slim pickings which I took as a positive sign.  The space has ample seating for college students and locals to sit and enjoy, not to mention the gorgeous wood tables with coffee beans inside. You'll see what I mean when you go.

Add it to your local doughnut tour. It's a clean space with friendly people behind the counter.
