Buttermilk Bakery

The time has finally come for us to gather in the bright, warm space of one of our most beloved local makers, Buttermilk Bakery. I wrote about Buttermilk Bakery a year ago here  as this family owned business was getting rave reviews all around Orlando. They have trekked from farmer's markets, to pop-ups, to private dinners as guest chefs; all in the name of growing their business and hooking us locals on their edible talents.

They certainly succeeded because the more we got, the more we wanted, and the question surely rang in their ears on a weekly basis, "when will you open up a shop?"

They were smart and took their time and found what I think will prove to be a great location on Orange Avenue just a few doors down from the Ravenous Pig.

Currently they are still in their soft opening phase, learning the rhythm of their guests as they visit to dine-in or take-out.

Regardless of what time you arrive your eyes will feast upon trays of freshly baked goods at the counter. Pop tarts, morning buns, croissants, cookies, and banana bread just to name a few. As the day goes on they will continue to bake items fresh in-house as they replenish the goods, both sweet and savory.

The ever popular Lineage coffee is brewed here, your choice of hot batch brew or cold brew. My batch brew was great and I'm happy to say in true Lineage style needed no sugar. Props to Taissa and her burgeoning barista skills.

The space is fresh and white, with rustic wooden features throughout that they inherited when taking over the space.  There are plenty of tables as well as window bar seating to watch the world outside. Additionally, marketing snob that I am, I'm happy to see that things are branded properly. Lunch service starts at 11:00 AM, which will include a variety of sandwiches and salads until they close at 5PM or sell out.  As permanent hours are finalized the lunch menu will expand with more variety. While there is plenty of cozy seating inside, they have a beautiful patio filled with succulents and a few shade sails to block out the sun. If the question on your mind is whether or not they will have wi-fi the answer for the foreseeable future is no. After all, this is a cozy and inviting place to engage in conversation as you would in a friend's house. As you watch Lana in the kitchen putting all her love and warmth into the freshly baked breads, and her children Phillip and Taissa tend to pastries, savory items and warmly greet guests, you can't help but feel like this is an extension of their own homes.  So bring a friend and enjoy some off-the-grid time.

Visit their website for hours, and if you don't already follow their instagram (@ilovebuttermilk) for updates you should get on that.
